ABOUT US
Hogentogler & Co. is a manufacturer of geotechnical testing apparatus primarily related to the
civil and environmental engineering fields. The company is a family owned corporation which has been in business
since 1939. Over the past 60 years Hogentogler has become a leader in the development and manufacturing of civil and
environmental technology equipment.
Hogentogler started as a supplier of soil mechanics testing apparatus such as compaction molds, tampers,
and liquid limit devices. However, as the company and its customer base has grown and diversified over the years so
have our products. We still carry the items we started with, but we also carry a variety of cutting edge equipment which
has been designed to cover a myriad of different civil and environmental engineering uses.
Hogentogler is presently one of the largest manufacturers of cone penetrometer equipment, as well as
a supplier of in-situ environmental testing equipment for soil, soil gas, and soil water sampling and monitoring,
and related delivery and support vehicles. Over the past 20 years we have sold over 300 installations for on and
offshore applications in both the domestic and international markets. These systems vary from simple drill mounted equipment
to vastly complex civil and environmental testing rigs requiring substantial engineering expertise in both design and manufacturing.
Our present capability to manufacture this type of equipment runs on the order of 30 units per year
with the ability to increase production if the market dictates. Coupled with this is Hogentogler's continuing effort to
pursue new technology and methods and bring them to production for commercial and governmental sales for both the domestic
and international markets. We accomplish this by putting great emphasis on research and development both in house
and in conjuction with leading universities.
Hogentogler's technical ability is multi-disciplined with graduate engineers in civil, electronic, hydraulic,
and mechanical engineering as well as basic and applied physics. We conduct an extensive ongoing research program
in hardware and software development for our product line. Our chief scientist is Mr Jim George, who holds advance
degrees in physics from both Harvard and Georgetown Universities, and has 33 years of experience in both the electronic engineering
and software development fields.
Hogentogler & Co., Inc. is presently a U.S. corporation defined as a small, woman owned business
under current federal guidelines and is licensed in the state of Maryland.
