The S4612 cone penetrometer is used for determining the penetration resistance of soils
in the field. The penetrometer is furnished with a calibrated proving ring, handle extension, two
cones, and a calibration chart. This penetrometer meets U.S. Army COE specifications.
The penetrometer with the 3/8" dia tip can measure up 750 psi.

Soil Penetrometer (Needle Type)

|
The S3251 penetrometer is used to perform moisture-penetration tests. In the penetration test a needle of given
end area is pushed into a soil sample that has been compacted in a mold. The force is then directly read off the
penetrometer scale by use of an internal calibrated spring. A moisture-penetration curve can then be plotted and used
to indicate moisture and density in the field. The penetrometer is furnished with seven graduated needles of different
surface areas. Needles included 1", 3/4", 1/2", 1/3", 1/5", 1/10", 1/20".

Dynamic Cone Penetrometer

The DCP uses a 15 lb (6.8 kg) steel mass falling 20 in (50.8 cm) that strikes
the anvil to cause penetration of a 1.5 in (3.8 cm) diameter cone (45° vertex
angle) that has been seated in the bottom of a hand augered hole. The blows
required to drive the embedded cone a depth of 1-3/4 in have been correlated by
others to N values derived from the Standard Penetration Test (SPT). Experience
has shown that the DCP can be used effectively in augered holes to depths of 15
to 20 ft. (4.6 to 6.1 m).

Pocket Geotester

The S4641 Pocket Geotester dial penetrometer set is perfect for on-site measurement of soil compaction
by testing the foundation plane or boring samples. The geotester gives readings of estimated unconfined
compressive strength in TSF or kg/cm2 when used with the standard 1/4" dia. plunger. Readings can
also be taken with the 10, 15, 20, 25mm dia. plungers which deliver guidelines to safe bearing pressures
for foundations in consolidated soils. The maximum value is retained on the dial until it is released by a
push button. The inner dial scale has readings of 0-6.0 x 0.1 divs. in TSF or kg/cm2 and the outer scale
delivers load strength over 0-11 kg range x 0.1 kg divs. The dial is 2-1/2" and has a sturdy noncorrosive
construction. Calibration is achieved by the operator using the supplied register plates. The geotester is
furnished with stainless steel plungers, carrying case, data tables, register plates and instructions.

Mortar Penetrometer

The C2701 Field Mortar Penetrometer is used for determining the setting time of concrete mixtures by penetration resistance. The
penetrometer is a spring dynamometer with a scale on the stem which is graduated to 100 x 2 lbs with each circular division 10 lbs. The
device is furnished with six needles (1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/10, 1/20, 1/40 sq. in) and a reinforced carrying
case. Replacement resistance needles are available. The C2705 Laboratory Mortar Penetrometer is
hydraulic and is designed for the Federal Highway Department. This mortar penetrometer is furnished
with an arbor press type stand, hydraulic cylinder, gauge and six stainless steel needles. The loads
are applied hydraulically with pressures read on a 200 lbf capacity gauge graduated in 2 lbf reading.
The penetrometer features a cast aluminum base.

Concrete Pocket Penetrometer

The C2711 Concrete Pocket Penetrometer is used for determining the setting time of concrete mixtures
by penetration resistance. When poured concrete reaches 500 psi the initial set or semi-hardened,
partially-hydrated condition is reached when it can no longer be worked or consolidated by vibration.
The C2711 gives instant field or laboratory estimates of concrete at a constant rate to 1" marked
depths. The plunger has an area of 2 in2 and the 2-1/4" dia. dial is graduated both from 0-700 psi and
0-50 kg/cm2. Readings are locked until released by a side button. Also furnished is a carrying case.
